Rose McGowan

 

Rosa Arianna "Rose", born September 5, 1973 is an American actress. McGowan's film debut was in the comedy Encino Man (1992), but she gained greater recognition for her performance in The Doom Generation (1995) in which she was awarded an Independent Spirit Award nomination as Best Debut Performance. McGowan made her debut in the horror film Scream in the year 1996. Later, she was the lead actress in Jawbreaker (1999), Devil in the Flesh (1998) and Going All the Way (1997). McGowan's portrayal of Paige Matthews on the WB supernatural drama Charmed (2001-2006) was the most well-known part of her career. McGowan also appeared in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's double-feature film Grindhouse (2007) in which she received nominations for the Saturn Award as Best Actress and the Scream Award as Best Scream Queen. McGowan was in the action thriller series Chosen (2014) and released her debut studio album, Planet 9, in 2018, which was followed by a repackaging in 2020. In 2017 Time recognized McGowan as one of the Silence Breakers, the magazine's Person of the Year, because she spoke out about sexual harassment and assault specifically with regard to the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse cases as well as the Me Too movement. McGowan has published a memoir, Brave, and starred in the four-part documentary series Citizen Rose, both in 2018.
