Renee Kathleen Zellweger

Renee Kathleen Zellweger was born on the 25th of April, 1969, in Katy, Texas, Her mother Kjellfrid Irene (Andreassen), is a former nurse from Norway and midwife. She is of Norwegian, Kven (Finnish), and Swedish descent. Emil Erich Zellweger, her father, is a Swiss engineer. They were have been married since 1963. Drew Zellweger is Renee's brother and was born on the 15th of February 1967. While working in the drama group, Renee became interested in acting. In Austin she also took an acting class and started to pursue acting as a profession. Following graduation, she wanted to keep acting, however Hollywood is a challenging city to get into, so Renee chose to remain in Texas, and auditioned for roles in Houston and managed to get roles in movies such as Reality Bites (1994) and Empire Records (1995). Matthew McConaughey (another Hollywood rising star) was her friend while she was working on the set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre II: The Next Generation (1994). Renee observed him working on a project , and she auditioned. The role was given to her in Love , and the 45 (1994). This was a huge success and earned her the respect of many that she decided to move to Los Angeles. Another role in The Whole Wide World (1996) followed which led to her biggest break. Cameron Crowe was busy casting Jerry Maguire (1996) with Tom Cruise. Crowe was thinking about such actresses as Cameron Diaz, Bridget Fonda, Winona Ryder, and Marisa Tomei. He was enthralled when he heard of Zellweger's performance in The Whole Wide World (1996). He auditioned Zellweger to ensure that she was indeed his Dorothy Boyd. Renee continued to enjoy her success in small independent films. Her films received even more praise from critics and felt assured that she was capable of re-entering large-budget Hollywood films. She was a co-star with Meryl Streep in the tearjerker One True Thing (1998). She also appeared alongside Jim Carrey in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) and began to be romantically involved with Carrey in the following year. Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
