Melanie Jayne Lynskey

Melanie Jayne Lynskey (born 16 May 1977) is a New Zealand actress. She is known for playing humorous, soft-spoken, but strong characters, and works predominantly in films that are independent. Her achievements include the New Zealand Film Award, a Hollywood Film Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award, in addition to Gotham Award, Golden Nymph Award Critics' Choice Award and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Lynskey was a teenage murderess who made her film debut in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After moving to the United States, Lynskey built an impressive career as a supporting actor in a number of small- and big-budget features like Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But... (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000) and Sweet Home Alabama (both 2002) Shattered glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and Away We Go!, Up in the Air!, Leaves of Grass (2009), Win Win (2011), Seeking a Wallflower (both 2014) Then They Came Together (2014) and Don't turn your back (2021). Lynskey's role as the lead in the film Hello I Must Go (2012) brought her praise from critics as well as a nomination for The Gotham Award for Breakthrough Performer. It was a pivotal point in her career. Her subsequent lead roles included Happy Christmas and We'll Never Have Paris (all 2014), The Intervention (all 2016), Rainbow Time, Little Boxes, I Don't Feel At In This World Anymore (both 2017), Lady of the Manor (2021), Sadie (2018) Sadie (2018), as well as Lady of the Manor (both 2018) established her as an influential person within the American independent movie community. Lynskey's portrayal as Rose in CBS' sitcom Two and a Half Men (1903-2015) earned her fame.
