Thora Birch

Thora Birch (born March 11, 1982) is an American producer and actress. Her first film appearance was in Purple People Eater (1988) in which she was awarded a Young Artist Award for "Best Young Actress under Nine Years Old". Birch was a child star who appeared in movies such as All I Want For Christmas (1991), Patriot Games(1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Monkey Trouble (94), Now and Then (1995) and Alaska (1996). She received a Young Artistic Award for "Best Young Actress under Nine Years of Age." In 1999, Birch played Jane Burnham in American Beauty. This film resulted in a BAFTA nomination. After that, she starred in Ghost World (2001) as Enid. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Birch was nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance in Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story in 2003. Other films she has appeared in include Dungeons & Dragons (2000), The Hole (2001), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006), Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009) and Petunia (2012).After taking time off from acting Birch was back in the spotlight in the year 2016 and has since appeared in numerous independent films. Birch was also in the role of Whisperer Maryor Gamma in the Walking Dead's season 10. Birch was born in Los Angeles, the eldest child of Jack Birch and Carol Connors. Birch who's family's first surname was Biersch, is of German-Jewish, Scandinavian, French-Canadian and Italian descent. [6] The name Thora, which she has adopted, is the name that comes from Thora, the Norse god of thunder and lightning ("Thor"), which would be her name had she was a boy. Kian Bolt Birch is her younger brother, is also her mother. They are both former adult film actors, and were both part of Deep Throat. They were not keen to support Thora due to their previous experience in the entertainment business. However, the babysitter noticed Thora mimicking commercials and convinced them to display Thora's photo to agents. Birch's first big break came at the age of four, when her babysitter took her to auditions for a Quaker Oats commercial.
