Rosamund Pike

Born in London in 1979, Rosamund Elizabeth Pike is an actress. She was the sole child of a classically trained violinist mother Caroline (Friend) and an opera singer father Julian Pike. The couple worked hard and she travelled extensively throughout Europe in her early years. Pike was a student at the Badminton School in Bristol, England and started acting at the National Youth Theatre. When she was in a National Youth Theatre production of "Romeo and Juliet", she was first spotted and signed by an agent, although she continued her studies at Wadham College, Oxford, where she read English Literature, eventually graduating with an upper-second class honours degree.Pike was a part of a variety of UK TV series which included Wives and Daughters (1999) after which she made an impressive movie debut as the glacial beauty "Miranda Frost" in the James Bond film, Die Another Day (2002); When the film came out at the age of 23, she was just 23. The film she made her debut in was a big-budget action flick. However, her later film work was mostly in independent films like Promised Land (2004) and The Libertine (2004). For which she was awarded the Best Supporting Actress prize in The British Independent Film Awards. Pride & Prejudice (2005) featured Pike as one of the Bennet girls. Following a brief appearance in Hollywood, Doom (2005) and Fracture (2006) was her next film. She returned to film, delivering outstanding performances in three smaller films. She was also in Johnny English Reborn (2011) and the sci-fi drama Wrath of the Titans (2012). Pike returned to action-films as the lead actress opposite Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher (2012).
